A degree in Spanish language and literature. (A degree in Portuguese language and literature, or in Spanish, Portuguese, or Latin American History may also be considered) A professional qualification in librarianship or information science and at least 2 years post-qualification experience in a university (or other higher education institution) library in a subject field appropriate to carrying out the duties of the post. (Substantial experience in a similar post may be considered as equivalent to a professional qualification)1 An excellent working knowledge of English, Spanish and Portuguese Familiarity with the wider culture, history, and politics of Latin America The ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of library staff and users, both orally and in writing An informed sympathy with the aims of library support for teaching, learning and research in a major academic institution, and a commitment to the provision of integrated library services
